[...] My friend Leanne Heller recently took this picture and blogged about it, “translating” it like so: Don’t go out this door! You might be impaled by a 3′ icicle. There is nothing we can do. Don’t even try. Abandon hope, ye who exit here. [...]

Sure, any photos without an "image credit" link at the bottom of the post are original. Do you think your button sign idea might cause people to despair of making a difference in the world and hurl themselves into traffic? ... Probably not, but perhaps we should try this in a test environment first...

I touched on something similar in a recent entry (<a href="http://uncommon.beaconhilllaw.com/2009/01/08/a-bark-is-better-than-a-bite/)" target="_blank">http://uncommon.beaconhilllaw.com/2009/01/08/a-ba...</a>on my own blog. I am definitely going to write about this and link to your post in an upcoming blog entry.

May I use your photo as well? (I am assuming you took it/are the copyright holder.)

Anyway, to answer your question...

You know those buttons that pedestrians are supposed to press to get the Walk sign to light up? I would put a sign on every one of those in the world that says: "Pressing me has no effect, but it's something to do while you wait."

I'll think more about this.
